Showing at International Encaustic Artists show in Cooperstown NY

My piece titled THROUGH TIME has been chosen for a show, sponsored by the International Encaustc Art Association to be held in Cooperstown NY this fall.

More than a theme for an exhibition, Lasting Impressions are a testament to our lives, memories and extraordinary moments. They are impactful changes that our words and actions have on others, our communities and environments. This show is also a tribute to Melissa M. Lackman, who served in multiple roles as an IEA Board Member for more than a decade and gave her heart and soul to the encaustic community. Her kindness, humility, intelligence and wit built friendships and created long-term contributions that have touched hundreds of artists.

The IEA encourages artists to reflect on the many ways in which they experience lasting impressions—physical, emotional, spiritual, literal or metaphorical. Lasting impressions are visceral, they linger over time even while other memories may fade. Those impressions, whether joyous or traumatic, may originate through human interactions, solitary experiences in nature, thoughts, imaginings, or dreams. In an attempt to make sense of her environment, Melissa described her impression of universal inspiration as "... a desire to explore, conquer chaos and beautify our surroundings."

"SMALLS" now available at the Rockport Art Center

I have been participating in several ways at the Rockport Art Center ever since they opened their fabulous new venue.  I always try to have one of my pieces in the constantly changing  featured theme show in their Members' Gallery.

Now I am happy to announce that I also have a series of small pieces, 5 and 6 inches square, in their gift shop.

This is a premier Texas Art Center and always well worth the stop when you are down at the Third Coast!

We have moved!

Many things have changed for us here at Kirchman Gallery since I last posted here.  We have sold both of our Johnson City properties and moved to the North side of San Antonio, just off of 281, in Timberwood Park.   We have a wonderful 1000 sq ft shop on our property separate from the house.  We are both deeply ensconced in creative projects.  While we no longer have a commercial space we would still love to have you visit and see our newest artistic endeavors.  Please text (since we hardly ever answer the phone) and let us know when you can visit.  830 225 0543 (Susan)  or 512 971 3464 (Warren).

FABULOUS price for my donation to the LBJ Ranch Fundraiser!

I am Over-the-Moon about the price that my little piece, Texas Roots, brought in for the Cabinet Oak Project!

The bidding started out a bit slow and ended with a flurry of bids to top out at $3530.    Thank you to my Artist neighbors, Kevin Tully and Mark Smith for instigating this wonderful competition and auction.  Proceeds went to fund art related initiatives at the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall TX.

IEA President's Award!

I am so proud and honored to be named the recipient of the International Encaustic Artists President's Award for my piece Vanishing III at the Wax & Wildflowers Show at the San Antonio Art League Museum.  The fact that my Fan Club, consisting of my daughter, my grandaughter and my great-grandson were there made it an even happier occasion.  Thank you to the IEA and the SAALM for instigating this fabulous exhibition.
