BIOGRAPHY:
Anna Marie Pavlik grew up in Minnesota and moved to Austin, Texas 23 years ago. She earned a B.A. from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Her employment efforts started with drafting, resulting in a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. A need for a greater involvement with art resulted in the use of the equipment of Flatbed Press, Austin, Texas. Followed by involvement with the Serie Project at Coronado Studio, and continued work at Slugfest Printmaking Workshop. Intense study of the intaglio process has resulted in the development of several bodies of work exploring narrative themes.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Growing concern for the survival of nature and a need to understand the relationship of people to the landscape has encouraged me to explore nature related themes. My images are concerned with extracting tangible ideas from views of natural sites, scientific data, and maps. By creating these works I hope to direct the viewer’s attention to the value, beauty, and mystery found within our natural environment.
